September 11th Memorial Services is held in the Orange
County Arboretum yearly to honor and remember those lost on that
horrific day in our nation’s history. Please see our events
calendar for the next years service.
Families, friends and elected officials were invited to participate
in this somber reflective ceremony.
Local volunteer Fire Companies provided uniformed flag bearers
that lined the Remembrance Walkway leading to the September
11 Memorial site where the 44-Orange County victims names
appear on bronze plaques.
The six-foot granite globe memorial, slowly rotated on a gentle
flow of cascading water, while dramatically back dropped by
a majestic American flag draped from three aerial fire apparatus.
West Point Military Academy, NY State Police, O.C. Sheriff
Dept. Color Guards and the Ancient Order of Hibernian Bag
Pipers escorted surviving family members along the Remembrance
Walkway.
Volunteer Fire Fighters tolled a bell as each victim’s
name was read, followed by the sound of echoing taps.
